Sam McWhorter is certainly one of the most gifted, and multi-talented persons that I have had the pleasure to be acquainted with in my tenure in the business of music and entertainment. And the degree of humbleness portrayed in this mans personality is a reflection of his God honoring upbringing, which can be detected immediately when one meets him. I had that pleasure in 1972, when "Bumps Blackwell" who was Little Richard's arranger, and manager suggested that we look up Sam's Recording studio in Pasadena, California. And upon entering "Studio 54 East" on Colorado Blvd. we encountered probably the most elaborate sound facility of that era. At the helm of the studio was Sam Mcwhorter, and we (The Del Vikings) & Sam became instant friends, both business wise, and personally. We still remain true friends to this day, and respect the integrity, honesty, and musical mind of Sam Mcwhorter that always is generated to achieve perfection in his work, and creative knowledge. Sam's wide range of talent's & fame goes back to the 60's when as one of Gold Stars Recording Studio artists, he began with such icons as Leon Russell, Glen Campbell, Dr. John, and Jim Keltner. Sam was Jackie DeShannon's producer, & keyboardist on the song "Put a little love in your heart" which won him a gold, and platinum record. And he has also worked with Electric Light Orchestra, Donovan, Little Richard, and a host of other talented & gifted artists who had major hits through the years to this day. Sam McWhorter is a recording producer, engineer, writer, composer, and musician who is highly admired & respected by the music industry. His talents are heard on many gold & platinum recordings and his character is a testament to his achievements. Ritzy Lee |
