Ritzy Lee's music career began in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, as a member of a "Do Wop" group called the "5 Treys". While a member of that group he penned a song Titled "The Sun", which was later recorded by The Dell Vikings, and an a-cappella singing group called "The Persuasions". Ritzy was persuaded to join the Dell Vikings by his then good friend (and next door neighbor) Kripp Johnson , and remains a member of the Original Dell Vikings until this day. Ritzy also became a good friend of Clarence Quick who was the founder of The Dell Vikings, and the writer of "Come Go With Me", & "Whispering Bells". Ritzy Lee, who has a God given talent of seeing the whole picture, persuaded Kripp Johnson, and Clarence Quick into laying aside their personal differences, & join together in unity, to reform The Dell Vikings to become a strong entity in the entertainment field. They then took the song Titled "The Sun" to Columbia Records Exec. Carl Stevens, and were signed to the label immediately. In the meantime Ritzy brokered a deal with "K-Tel Records" founder Philip Kives, and Joe Averbach who owned the masters of the "hits" "Come Go With Me", & "Whispering Bells" to advertise, and sell the two songs on Television.( which at the time was a new marketing tool ). This move catapulted the songs into the "TOP 25" of The ALL TIME Greatest HITS LIST, and they still remain Major ALL TIME HITS. Ritzy Lee, along with Kripp Johnson, also brokered "booking" deals with Milt Shawl (Shawl Artists, New YORK City ), who booked the group to open for such noted acts as Sam Cook, Lloyd Price, & The great Count Basie in many of the Worlds Famous Venues, such as the Apollo Theater, Radio City Music Hall, and The Palladium in the United Kingdom. Ritzy Lee also recognized the rising popularity of a young Collegian by the name of Ted Hall ( Hit Attractions, of Charlotte North Carolina ),who booked the Dell Vikings to perform at Colleges across the South. They ultimately signed an exclusive "College" booking contract, which kept the Dell Vikings working steadily ....Even during the period of the "British Invasion" when most American Do-Wop acts weren't working. Ritzy Lee has also had his songs performed in hit movie soundtracks such as "Grumpier old Men", and the HBO hit series "Real Sex". Ritzy Lee has produced 2 CDs, and a video of The Dell Vikings and is currently looking for "young Talent" with a love for music, and real "Instrumentation"........Rather than computer generated sounds. Thus the birth of "Rock Bottom Blues Company",for musicians, Music Makers, and of course Music lovers all over the World. |
